  • With a long history of welcoming and nurturing entrepreneurs, the Adirondack Region fosters an economy offering incredible business opportunities.

Throughout Warren, Washington and Northern Saratoga Counties, major employers in finance, insurance, manufacturing, services, and tourism support the economic development of the region. Located within eastern New York's Tech Valley, the region continues to expand its opportunities in health care, finance, and tourism. In the Greater Glens Falls area alone, community members are employed in approximately 65 diverse industries. The biggest employer being Glens Falls Hospital, the region provides the largest healthcare system between Albany and Montreal. Producing a large percentage of the world’s catheter products, the region is especially noted for its medical device manufacturing, living up to its nickname of “Catheter Valley.”  Additional industries of furniture, printing, textiles, technology, and pulp and paper equipment employ many of the residents.

With a seasonal economy driven by the arrival of summer tourists and winter sports enthusiasts, the family-friendly Adirondack Region boasts six million acres of outdoor exploration, spectacular waterways and inviting communities. Featuring some of the best events and festivals in the nation, the region is home to a wide array of cultural attractions, including celebrated museums, restaurants, and historic sites.  A vibrant agricultural area, the region supports the production of numerous artisan products readily available in retailers, restaurants, and Farmers’ Markets throughout the year. Dairy farming is a leading industry in Washington County where other enterprises such as apple growing, maple sugar production and truck farming play a vital role.

In Warren County, lumber, limestone, black marble, garnets, tanning and water power formed an early industrial base from which the economy has grown. The paper, lime and cement industries stimulated further growth and enhanced the diversity that characterizes the region’s industrial community today.

The region offers numerous opportunities for training and professional development.  With educational facilities such as Warren- Saratoga-Washington-Hamilton Essex Board of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES), SUNY Adirondack, SUNY Plattsburgh and programming through the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, students of all ages have access to a diverse range of educational opportunities and leadership training programs.

Boasting communities abundant in resources, history, and skilled labor, the Adirondack region is a premiere destination for creating and retaining business development opportunities.  A bonus is the area’s exceptional quality of life for its work force.
