What to do in Glens Falls during Spring Break
In a city with a 3.9 square mile radius in Upstate NY you could imagine the options to do anything fun over spring break would be limited. Well, you’d be wrong. Within this charming city there are many opportunities to explore and have fun at little to no cost. From the incredible restaurants and bars, to quant local shops, to rowdy sports games and stellar local theater, the city of Glens Falls will not disappoint.
Glens Falls is home of many local restaurants unlike any other. For a cup of coffee and to chat or get some work done the spots to hit are Spektor Coffee Roasters as well as Spot Coffee Cafe. Both of these create a relaxing atmosphere and also great coffee. Some of my favorite places for dinner and drinks are Bistro Tallulah, Raul’s, and last but not limited to, Downtown City Tavern. All of these places have a wide selection on both their food and their drink menus. After dinner you may be wondering where to capture some night life. Definitely check out Mean Max for some awesome craft beers along with some intense dart games and trivia nights. Another stop to make later in the night is the Bullpen Tavern. It creates a real hometown feel where you may see many familiar faces if you are from the area!
If you’re into sports, attending an Adirondack Thunder game at the Glens Falls Civic Center is a blast. From the cheap beers to the always packed-rowdy atmosphere it can’t be beat. Within walking distance from the restaurants and bars downtown it makes for a great time with friends and family. If you’re more of a theater fan, you may want to visit the historical Charles R. Wood Theater located in the heart of downtown. The Wood theater puts on multiple shows a week ranging from concerts to musicals. The performers come from all over to put on unforgettably great shows!
My last advice of being in Glens Falls during Spring Break is to shop local! Downtown Glens Falls shops include a wide selection of products you will want to buy. For clothing boutiques, a popular spot for women is Minky Mink and if you’re like me you will want to buy everything in the store. For men and women’s clothing I suggest the sporting goods store Fountain Square Outfitters where you can purchase a new Patagonia because in this city, let’s face it, it can stay cold until mid-summer! Another local shop being fairly new to downtown Glens Falls is the Lake George Olive Oil Co. where you will find a variety of olive oils making for great gifts for the upcoming Mother’s Day.
So if you find yourself in Glens Falls this spring break and are stuck on things to do and places to go, check these places out! They are sure to lead to a fun time and without a doubt have you missing them when you’re back at college.
