Position 1: Full-time
Position 2: Part-time 80% (with possible full time position as services are requested)
Salary: $49,202 - $69,480, commensurate with experience
Location: TBD (various)
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am-2:45pm
This is a professional position involving responsibility for evaluating, planning and providing physical therapy treatment to students in accordance with written prescription or referral from a physician who provides medical direction. Does related work as required.

Evaluates the degree of function and disability of students unless contra-indicated by professional judgment or a physician's admission notes, and recommends treatment(s);

Performs physical therapy procedures upon the written order or referral of a licensed physician, on school premises or during home visits;

Participates with other personnel, parents and teachers in the formulation of students' total care plans and therapy schedules;

Attends BOCES and in-service workshops;

Develops or assists in the development of physical therapy policies, procedures, priorities, caseloads and assessment tools;

Makes routine maintenance checks on wheelchairs and other equipment and when necessary arranges for their repair;

Records on students' charts all physical therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes and consultations;

Supervises students, volunteers and assistants in scheduling and carrying out physical therapy functions;

Maintains program records including, but not limited to, the service budget and statistical reports of the frequency and types of treatment and number of students treated;

Provides assistance and participates in purchasing activities.
Minimum Qualifications:

Licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as a Physical Therapist.

Experience working in a school-based therapy setting preferred.

Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Washington County to obtain a permanent appointment.
