    CONSTRUCTION SPECIALIST I
     
    The Warren County Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Construction Specialist I. Incumbents in this class utilize strong empirical knowledge and extensive experience to perform complex civil engineering work in the design, construction, inspection and evaluation of roads, structures and other public works facilities. Work is performed in accordance with established engineering practices and principles under general supervision with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and scheduling work, selecting work methodology, evaluating information and preparing reports and recommendations, preparing plans, resolving problems in the field and performing work.

    SALARY: $73,253 (2023 Base)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    A) Bachelor’s Degree* in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or a closely related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering technology or construction management; OR

    B) Associate’s Degree* in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or a closely related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering technology or construction management; OR

    C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, engineering technology or construction management; OR

    D) Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limitations set forth in Paragraphs A and B above.

    *Acceptable areas of engineering education include Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering or a closely related field. Degrees in the following fields are not acceptable: Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Public Health Engineering or Computer Technology.

    The position will be filled based upon Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with examination to be held at a later date. Candidate must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment following establishment of the Eligible List. Authority to fill this job vacancy is pending approval of the Board of Supervisors.
