    PART TIME FIRE PREVENTION AND BUILDING CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
     
    Warren County is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Fire Prevention and Building Code Enforcement Officer.  The Officer is responsible for enforcing the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.  Under general supervision, provides for the coordination of all activities relevant to ensuring compliance with appropriate laws, codes, rules and regulations.  Does related work as required.
     
    SALARY: $27.87/hour (up to 20 hours/week)
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and:
    1. Associate’s Degree in civil engineering, construction technology, fire science or a related field and two (2) years of full-time paid experience in general building construction, building inspection, building code enforcement activities, a skilled building trade (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) or related field, or
    2. Two (2) years of full-time paid experience as a New York State Certified Code Enforcement Officer and two (2) years of full-time paid experience in general building construction, building inspection, building code enforcement activities, a skilled building trade (carpentry, plumbing electrical, HVAC, etc.) or related field, or
    3. Four (4) years of full-time paid experience in general building construction, building inspection, building code enforcement activities, a skilled building trade (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) or related field;
    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Candidates for appointment in this class must have a valid New York State Driver’s license; and
    2. Will be required to complete any mandated training as established by the New York Department of State.
    Position will be filled based on Civil Service requirements.  Appointment will be provisional with examination to be held at a later date.  Candidate must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment following establishment of eligible list.
