NOTICE OF VACANCY
SOCIAL SERVICES ATTORNEY
The Warren County Department of Social Services is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Social Services Attorney. This is a full-time professional position requiring performance and administration of local district Department of Social Services (“Department”) legal work. The incumbent acts as Chief Legal counsel to the Department as well as confidential counsel to the Commissioner. The work is performed in accordance with the provision of the New York State Social Services Law, New York State Rules and Regulations, Family Court Act, other applicable laws and rules, policies established by the Commissioner and policies approved by the County Board of Supervisors. The position requires ongoing interpretation and implementation of the foregoing, legal research, independent informed judgment, pursuit of appropriate legal action as well as administration of legal services and supervision of legal personnel for the Department. The position is under the general direction of the Commissioner of Social Services. The attorney is on-call on a 24 hours basis at all times. Does related work as required.
SALARY: $94,835 - $103,149
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Admission to the New York State Bar and three (3) years of experience practicing law which shall have included two (2) years of experience as Attorney in a County Attorney’s Office, Social Service Attorney’s Office, District Attorney’s Office or in private practice appearing for parties and/or as an Attorney for the child in Family Court; or
- A combination of the foregoing.
SALARY: $94,835 - $103,149
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to satisfy the travel requirements of the position throughout employment.
The position will be filled based upon Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with examination to be held at a later date. Candidate must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment following establishment of the Eligible List.
