    WARREN COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES
    NOTICE OF VACANCY
     
    SUPPORT INVESTIGATOR
     
    Conducts investigations to determine the location and financial status of individuals legally responsible for the support of welfare recipients.  Also provides related services to the general public for the purpose of securing child support and/or establishment of paternity.  This position involves verifying the absence of a legally responsible relative from a household, locating the individual and assessing the possibility of obtaining reimbursement of funds for a social service agency.  For the general public, this position involves documenting and verifying the financial status of absent parents and preparing petitions for support, enforcement, and modification.
     
    SALARY: $46,004 (2024 base salary).
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or a degree which includes 12 credit hours in one of the behavioral sciences; or
    2. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two years of interviewing or investigation experience involving public contact; or
    3. Any equivalent combination of training and experience as stated in "A" and "B" above.
    The position will be filled based upon Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with examination to be held at a later date. Candidate must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment following establishment of the Eligible List.
