SUPERVISION: Reports to Shift Leader
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing industrial maintenance support to ensure the safe and effective operation of the production facility. Key responsibilities include equipment setup, breakdown, mechanical troubleshooting and repair. This position may rotate to different functions within the process as business needs dictate. The ability to multi-task and manage a fast-paced environment where quality, safety and productivity are key competencies, is required. This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Adhere to all direction from Shift Leadership
- Adhere to all Morcon safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to all break schedules
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Perform preventive maintenance by following documented checklists on paper converting assets and material handling equipment
- Proficiency in reading and comprehension of equipment manuals, schematics, and diagrams
- Follow and improve upon Standard Operating Procedures when applicable
- Perform setup and breakdown of paper converting assets
- Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical & electrical systems including PLC’s, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, seals, gears, chains, sprockets, pipe fitting,
- Execute appropriate lubrication of mechanical systems
- Provide support for emergency or unplanned mechanical repairs with paper converting assets
- Troubleshoot basic to complex mechanical and electrical issues
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and schematic prints (electrical, pneumatic and mechanical) to perform required maintenance and service
- Record and submit accurate work order data and parts usage using the CMMS system
- Knowledge and understanding of preventive maintenance concepts
- Serve as equipment operator backup as needed
- Run equipment through breaks as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
- Operational knowledge of converting and material handling equipment
- Proficiency in benchmarking to measure and apply consistent performance through best practices
- Ability to Implement Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) to problems before trying to solve them, by which the main cause of a problem is isolated and identified
- Understanding of the 5S methodology to improve workplace efficiency and reduce waste
- Ability to maintain and improve equipment effectiveness through centerline data
- Formal training in Industrial Maintenance or Mechatronics Systems, preferred
- Flexibility to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing operation
- Familiarity with industrial electrical concepts
- Proficiency in basic Mig and Tig welding for repair purposes
- Proficiency in shop machinery including mills, lathes, drill presses and normal industrial tools for repair purposes
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ownership of all tools listed on the Morcon Maintenance Technician Tool List within 90 days of employment
- Completion of OJT certifications of converting and material handling equipment
- Completion of Company Safety Trainings
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum High School diploma or GED
- 2 years of industrial maintenance experience at journeyman level, or an industrial maintenance degree/certification from an accredited institution
- Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly bend, lift, stretch and reach both below the waist and above the head
- Lift and move objects up to 45 pounds each
- Walking within and around the site with great frequency
- Ability to climb ladders safely and without limitation, and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights
- Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
- Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet/uneven surfaces
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as assigned, is required.
