Responsibilities
The retail sales professional will strive to build relationships with existing customers and bring new customers to the company. The salesman will help the company make the business more successful through outstanding customer service.- Welcomes customers by greeting them; offering them assistance.
- Directs customers by escorting them to racks and counters; suggesting items.
- Advises customers by providing information on products.
- Helps customer make selections by building customer confidence; offering suggestions and opinions.
- Sells hardware, hand-and-power tools, electrical equipment, plumbing supplies, garden tools, and paint
- Advises customer on tools, hardware, and materials needed, and procedure to follow to complete task customer wishes to perform.
- Informs customer about quality of tools, hardware, and equipment, and demonstrates use.
- Documents sales, updates customer profile records, and processes payments by checks, cash, and store or other credit cards.
- Keeps clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.
- Takes inventory
- Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the company in a positive manner.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Effective oral and written communications in English.
- Capable of preserving confidential or sensitive information.
- Effective time management, organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Special people skills to deal with customers and an outbound personality.
- Able to prospect new accounts.
- Very good team player and should work well under pressure.
- Able to foster the business relation values.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to lift and carry up to an approximate weight of 50 pounds, although not limited to 50 pounds
- Clean drivers license
