Truck Driver

- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Report to Yard Foreman
- Maintain work flow and organization to ensure maximum productivity between Receiving, Yard, and Dispatch
- Driver truck
- Use the most efficient routes within DOT requirements
- Maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations
- Inspect truck and equipment using daily vehicle inspection report
- Report all safety issues to the garage
- Clean truck after delivery
- Report all accidents and incidents immediately
- Inventory control
- Pick materials
- Assist workers in loading and unloading truck
- Confirm load for accuracy prior to leaving yard
- Secure cargo for transit
- Check site prior to unloading load
- Collect payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges
- Maintain contact with dispatcher
- Works with customers to give them the best possible service and maintains good customer rapport.
- Diplomatically handles difficult situations by using good judgment
- Works with and assist other associates as needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Clean commercial drivers license
- Ability to operate a boom
- Certified to operate a fork lift
- Ability to read and understand purchase orders, bills of lading and all paperwork associated with shipments.
- Ability to lift and carry merchandise (up to an approximate weight of 50 pounds, although not limited to 50 pounds)
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop and reach in order to stock inventory, service customers, and maintain a clean work area.
- Ability to climb a ladder or “step up” to stock and/or count inventory in overhead areas
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours (short breaks provided throughout the shift)
- Clean commercial drivers license
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to tactfully handle difficult situations by using good judgment.
Performance standards for this position are met when:- All paperwork for the company is done accurately and on time.
- Communication with Dispatch and/or the Foreman is timely and accurate on all matters.
- Intra-company communications are open and constructive.
The Truck Driver will be evaluated according to the following criteria.- Paperwork is complete and accurate.
- Customer service and quality goals are achieved
- All safety standards are followed.
